At its Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple has announced the next version of its mobile operating system dubbed as iOS 9. This new iOS 9 comes with improved features and smarter siri. The iOS 9 will be available later this year.
Company claims that iOS 9 will offer better performance, improved battery life and smarter Siri.
Improved Siri With Proactive
Revamped Siri has gotten Proactive Assistant which has improved Siri a lot. Now, Siri is much more like Google Now. Search box of iOS also offers Google Now like suggestions by surfacing contact information. Siri can now handle more kind of requests. Siri is now capable of offering 40% more accurate results. It will be able to search from photos, videos and can also set reminders.
Apple Pay
Apple has also updated its Apple Pay with enhancement. Apple Pay will be available in UK with integration of more banks and credit cards. It is also getting support from stores and other retailers.
Improved Spotlight With Deep Linking
Apple has also improved the Spotlight. Third-party apps can also use Apple’s search feature. So, it will act as a search engine for you. For example, You can search about restaurants here and get results from app. Clicking on results will redirect you to Yelp results.
Note
Note app of iOS is now better and is close to Evernote or other note taking services. It has received features like image insertion, checklists, and sketches. Note app can also access camera to add photos direct from camera. You will also be able to import content from Maps, Safari, and other apps into Notes.
Trackpad For The iPad
Apple has added the trackpad feature for iPad. If you put two fingers on keyboard, it will work as trackpad.
Improved Apple Maps
Apple has also improved its mapping service with new transit feature. New Apple maps also includes directions for public transportation like buses, trains, subways, and ferries. When the maps will be available, transit will be available for various locations including Baltimore, Berlin, Chicago, London, Mexico City, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington, DC. Transit information will be available in 300 cities throughout China.
News App
Apple has also added news app in this new iOS 9. This app is a good way to be updated with latest news. This news app will surely hurt Flipboard. News will only be available in the U.S., the U.K. and Australia for now. Apple has also rebranded passbook as wallet where you can store your reward points.
Apple Music
Apple has also launched its new music streaming service Apple Music with iOS 9. You will be able to enjoy millions of songs by subscribing to the service only for $9.99 per month.
This new iOS 9 will be available later this year. We can expect the availability with new iPhone. Public beta of iOS 9 will be available in July.
