Apple confirmed the findings of security researcher Andrea Barisan who told use that buttons on Control Center of iOS 11 do not actually turn off WiFi or Bluetooth. These simply disconnect your iPhone or iPad from connected devices.

Apple has confirmed that both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will continue to be available even if you turn off these from Control Center. It has been done so you can use these features:

  • AirDrop
  • AirPlay
  • Apple Pencil
  • Apple Watch
  • Continuity features, like Handoff and Instant Hotspot
  • Instant Hotspot
  • Location Services

If you have been just tapping on options available in Control center, you have been doing wrong.

But what if you actually want to save battery juice by turning off Bluetooth and Wifi? You can go to Settings and hit the toggles for those features there. Control center options are just to disconnect existing connections.

  • To turn off Wi-Fi, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn off Wi-Fi.
  • To turn off Bluetooth, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn off Bluetooth.

Now you know how to properly disable the Wifi and Bluetooth connections. So, next time go to settings in place of using Control center options.
