UC BrowserChina’s Alibaba Group owned UC Browser contains few security and privacy issues in Android app. These issues were found in both English and Chinese version of the browser app.

As per the report published by security researchers from The Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto, browser is leaking users personal and personally-identifiable data unencrypted. This data include numbers, device serial numbers, search queries and geo-location data. So, attacker can easily get these data from the unencrypted traffic.

This kind of security and privacy flaw can harm users a lot. This data can be used by third parties.

US Browser has around 500 million users and it is very popular in India. In India, many times, government asks telecom operators to hand-over users’ data. These kind of issues lead to your personal data collection by telecom operators. So, you must take care while using the mobile apps on Internet.

Researchers have already notified this issue to the development team of UC browser. Alibaba declined to comment on the issue but they assured to investigate the issue.

UC Browser is owned by UC Web. Alibaba acquired UC Web last year in June and it was the biggest merger of that time in CHinese history.
