Xiaomi created a bug buzz with the launch of Poco F1. The phone did well in the market but Poco remained silent in 2019 and didn’t launch a single phone after the debut. Poco fans kept asking about Poco F2 but didn’t get any clear answer. Several people claimed that Poco is dead and won’t be back.

Now the company has finally broken the silence on the existence of Poco. Xiaomi India head, Manu Kumar Jain confirmed that India consumers will see new Poco products in India this year. He also confirmed that Poco will no more be Xiaomi’s sub-brand but an independent brand.

However, the tweet didn’t reveal any timelines. On asking about the specific timeline, he said, “hopefully it is coming soon.”

Addressing the announcement, Manu Jain, Xiaomi Vice President and Xiaomi India Managing Director, said, “What started as a sub-brand in POCO has grown into its own identity in a short span of time. POCO F1 is an extremely popular phone across user groups, and remains a top contender in its category even in 2020. We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own now, which is why we’re excited to announce that POCO will spin off as an independent brand. Join me in wishing the POCO team the best!

Manu said that the company, as an independent brand, will focus on offering speed, gaming, performance, and good camera setup.
