Last year in September, YouTube began testing profile cards that show a user’s public information and comment history. Now the company is launching this to all users on Android.
YouTube claims that the feature will help users build connections, explore comments and more. Creators can also easily identify who is actively commenting on their channel.
To see the Profile Cards, one needs to tap on the profile photo of any user who has commented on the video and the app will open the profile card with information such as name, profile photo, subscriptions, subscribers count and recent comments on the channel.
The information available on the profile card is already public. YouTube is just making them available at once place.
This feature will also let creators easily identify trolls. The comment history will reveal if a person comes just to put negative comments. Then the creator can decide if fitter comments from the user should be hidden.
