Amazon to bring ads to Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon is planning to introduce ads in Prime Video starting next year. Customers will have to pay extra to access ads-free Prime Video. The change is only in the Prime Video. Other benefits of Prime subscriptions will remain the same.

The company will introduce ads initially in the U.S., the UK, Germany, and Canada in early 2024. Later it will also bring ads in Prime Video in France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia later in 2024. Amazon has confirmed that users in the US will have to pay $2.99 a month to remove ads in Prime Video. Pricing for other countries has not been confirmed.

We still have no information when the company will start showing ads in Prime Video. However, the company confirmed that it will send emails to Prime members several weeks before ads are introduced.

The company has also mentioned that it will continue to show ads on live event content even if the customer pays for an ad-free plan.

Prime Video is included in Prime Membership. Prime members get Fast, free delivery, access to streaming video content on Prime Video, Access to Prime Video Channels, Exclusive deals, ads-free Amazon Music, ultrafast Fresh grocery delivery, unlimited photo storage with Amazon Photos, Prime Gaming, access to books and magazines with Prime Reading, and mone-year Grubhub+ membership trial.

Amazon is not the only company adopting the ads-supported tiers. Netflix and Display+ have also adopted the same and asked users to pay for more remaining ads-free. It is also worth noting that the growth of ad-supported plans has been slow across different streaming platforms.
