Facebook has 82 Million Mobile Users in India, Growth In India Slows Down

Popular social network Facebook has revealed some stats about its user base in India. Number of Facebook users has grown by 5 percent to 82 million users in April-June. It was only 78 million in January-March. It was 71 million by the end of December 2012.

Kevin D’souza, Country Growth Manager, Facebook India also confirmed that 62 percent out of 82 million users in India user Facebook from mobile devices. Report confirms that users in India and Brazil played key role in the growth of Facebook in second quarter of 2013. Facebook also revealed that it has 128 million users in US and 24 million users in UK.

India is the second largest country on Facebook after US. This is why Facebook is focusing on India. New users start using Facebook from mobile phones. Facebook featured phone app works best for those new users. India is also world’s third largest smartphone market. We can assume how mobile users can help Facebook in its growth.

“Today, millions of people in developing markets like India, Indonesia and the Philippines are relying on this technology to connect with Facebook, without having to purchase a smartphone,” Facebook spokesperson said.

Last month, Facebook also revealed that 100 million users access Facebook from featured phone app.
