Another big name became the victim of cyber attack. Now Standford university has confirmed that it was hacked and is asking all registered users to change the password. Randall Livingston, Stanford’s chief financial officer sent emails to all registered users regarding the data breach and password change. Standford is trying to know the possible scope of data breach.
At the accounts page, it also added a note at the top of the page.
“As a precautionary measure in the wake of an apparent breach in its information technology infrastructure, Stanford University is asking all SUNet ID holders to update their passwords. You can do this by clicking on the “Manage” icon below. In updating your password, you are encouraged to increase its complexity in order to maximize its strength. More information is available on the following pages,” Note reads.
Standford has also posted a brief report on the news section of the website. But they are still investigating the issue.
“Stanford is investigating an apparent breach of its information technology infrastructure similar to incidents reported in recent months by a range of companies and large organizations in the United States. We do not yet know the scope of the intrusion, but we are working closely with information security consultants and law enforcement to determine its source and impact,” University posted on News.
