In a recent update, WhatsApp has introduced four new text formatting options to provide users with more ways to enhance the messaging experience. WhatsApp already had Bold, Italic, Strike-through, and Monospace formatting features. Now the company added Bulleted Lists, Numbered Lists, Block Quote, and Inline Code. These formatting options aim to help users in organizing their messages and expressing themselves.

Here’s a breakdown of the new formatting choices:

  1. Bulleted Lists: Users can now create bulleted lists to outline steps in a process, list ingredients in a recipe, or highlight the main points in a message. To use, simply type the “-” symbol followed by a space.
  2. Numbered Lists: This option allows users to note a specific order of things, such as instructions or a recap of events. To implement, type 1 or 2 digits followed by a period and one space.
  3. Block Quote: Users can now highlight key text to make it more noticeable in messages. To use this feature, type the “>” symbol followed by a space.
  4. Inline Code: This option helps distinguish specific information within a sentence. Users can utilize this by wrapping text with the backtick (`) symbol.
