Popular password management software provide LastPass confirmed it was hacked two weeks ago. The company also released that hackers managed to steal the company’s source code and a few technical information.

LastPass has now published a security advisory confirming the breach. The company claims that the incident occurred in the development environment. So, threat actors could not access customer data or encrypted password vaults. LastPass users do not need to worry. They can keep using LastPass to keep their passwords safe.

To investigate the issue, the company has already hired a leading cybersecurity and forensics firm. The company has also implemented additional enhanced security measures while the investigation is still ongoing. LastPass promises to update customers when it has more information about the incident.

Even if no customer data was stolen, hackers can still use source code and proprietary information obtained through this attack to perform further attacks on customers. So, LastPass must investigate the incident properly to avoid any future risks to customers.

LastPass is considered one of the best password managers. It claims to have more than 33 million users. People use it to store all of their passwords safely. All the passwords customers save are stored in ‘encrypted vaults’ and can only be accessed by using a master password selected by the user.
