Now when India has blocked TikTok, several new and existing apps are trying to attract TikTok creators. Instagram has also expanded its TikTok rival feature Reels in India.
Instagram Reels is already available in Brazil and was recently launched in France and Germany.
Reels allows users to create and share 15-second videos, set music or other audio in the same way you do on TikTok. It also has similar a set of editing tools including countdown timer, speed control, and more.
Most of the Tiktok creators also share their videos on Instagram. Having a similar feature on Instagram will make it easier for them to create the same kind of content after the TikTok ban.
Facebook has also made deals with Saregama, Yash Raj Films, Zee Music Company, and T-Series to bring license music. The arrival of Reels is a timely move because more than 200 million users who were active on TikTok are now looking for a platform.
