JioPhone – Everything you need to know

Jio Phone

Reliance Jio has finally unveiled its feature phone JioPhone to bring 4G benefits to masses. JioPhone is not a smartphone but brings lots of features to make it a complete device for entertainment.  JioPhone is made in India, made by India and made for India. This phone aims to replace the existing 2G feature phones. In this article, I will tell you everything you need to know about JioPhone.

Everything you need to know about JioPhone

JioPhone Price

As I confirmed in my previous article, JioPhone will be free. But Reliance has decided to take security deposit to avoid the misuse of this scheme. So, you will have to pay Rs. 1500 and this amount will be refunded in three years. Even after paying the Rs. 1500, this makes the best deal to get 4G data access.

JioPhone data plans

Reliance announced Rs. 154 plan for free voice call, SMS, and data for one month. There will also be weekly plans of Rs 53 and a two-day plan costing Rs 23.

At the time of the announcement, it was mentioned that JioPhone will come with ‘unlimited’ data access. But, there is a fair usage policy. So, users can only access up to 500MB of high-speed data daily with the plan of Rs. 154. After crossing this limit, speed will go down.

Apps

Even if this is a feature phone, you have numbers of apps to enjoy. The phone comes preloaded with all Jio applications like Jio Cinema, Jio Music etc.

As of now, we have no information about WhatsApp app on this phone. This phone was reportedly found running Facebook, but it is still not confirmed by the company. We can expect the WhatsApp and Facebook apps on this phone by the time it becomes available.

Specifications and features

The key specifications of the phone include 2.4-inch QVGA display, Alphanumeric keypad, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, Expandable storage, and 2 MP rear camera, VGA camera.

It also comes with inbuilt ringtones, speaker, contact book, call history, four-way navigation, FM radio, Torch Light and long battery. The phone also comes with NFC support. The phone also has an SOS feature which can be activated by pressing 5.

JioPhoen also supports mirroring your screen on a TV via Jio Cable. This feature mirrors phone’s screen to any TV including Old CRT TVs. But for using this feature, you will have to choose Rs. Rs. 309 per month plan.

JioPhone Availability

Jio Phone will be launched on August 15 and the pre-bookings for this phone will begin on August 24.

How to buy JioPhone

If you want to buy the JioPhone, you will have to book it. It will be served on first come first serve basis. For booking this phone, you can either visit the Jio Store or use MyJio app starting on August 24.

I will update this article when I have more data about JioPhone to share. If you have any question you can put it in the commend and I will try to get the answers.
