Square Enix Comes India With Game Development Contest

Square Enix is a well known game for gamers who played Final Fantasy series. This company is also known for Western franchises like Tomb Raider, Hitman etc after purchasing Eidos Interactive. After Starting from the Japan, now the company has offices all over the world. But this big news is that the company is planning to enter in the Indian gaming industry with a game development studio in this country.

This new gaming studio will work on casual games only like social gaming, handheld and simple funny games. This time company only wants simple and isolate games but it is also planning for some big games for console in near future.

Company is coming in Indian with a Game development contest where they will promote Indian talent to the world. To participate in the contest, you need to have a team. After having a team for game development, Develop a game. Complete your own exciting game and then submit it to Square for review. If your game is selected, you will be picked up for the job or the game will be published by Square Enix. You will also earn good amount as a prize which is Rs. 10,00,000. This is really a big amount to attract game developers in this game development contest.

Company has not announced any guidelines for the games which developers can submit. But it must be simple and funny.  Develop the game which attracts not only the hardcore gamers but normal public too.

Registration process has been started by the company from April 25. Games will only be accepted between the 1st of August and the 30th of September 2012. Square is also setting up a website which will be launch soon. This website will help all the participants to know more about the contest, change in rules, important dates and other important information. I think website should have been setup before the registration.

India is a good market for gaming for game development is not a big industry here. There are some small gaming companies in India but no has a good name on the world’s gaming. This kind of effort will give a boost to the gaming industry in India.
