HP recently released The HP India Gaming Landscape Study 2022 which unveiled some key trends in India’s gaming industry. The report confirms that gaming is now seen as a viable career option in India. PC is the preferred gaming machine and several mobile gamers want to move to PC gaming.

Most gamers in India prefer a PC over a mobile phone. Around 68 percent believe that gaming is better on a PC than on a mobile phone. It is because the PC offers a better gaming experience and has more gaming options. Bigger and immersive display, better performance, and better graphics make PC a better gaming machine. Around 39% of people who participated in the study want to move to PC from mobile for gaming and 30% of PC gamers also want to upgrade their PC for better gaming.

Mobile gaming is popular in the country due to affordability. We can enjoy high-end games on a phone priced around Rs. 30000. For a good gaming expense, one has to spend around Rs. 1 Lakh on a PC gaming setup.

Gaming is still seen as a hobby. So, getting an expensive PC for gaming is not Nan option for most kids. After India’s DOTA 2 team won bronze at Commonwealth Esports Championship, perception changed. Not all gamers participate in esports tournaments but several gamers earn well by streaming their gamers on YouTube and Twitch.

Most people who seriously play games want to select gaming as a career option. Around 33 percent want to make a full-time career in gaming and 33 percent of people prefer gaming as a part-time career. When we see gaming as a career, most people prefer to be a gamer. Around 53 percent of respondents want to be professional gamers and 20% are interested in being gaming influencers.
