You no longer need to use the Edge browser to access Microsoft’s Bing Chat. Now the company has added the AI-powered Chatbot on Google Chrome for Windows, macOS, and Linux. You just need to go to Bing.com/chat and you will get access to Bing Chat. It also doesn’t ask you to sign in. However, the company still suggests users use Edge and claims that Bing Chat works best on Edge.

Bing chat was introduced back in February 2023. It is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4 model and provides a ChatGPT-like experience within Bing search.

According to reports, there are several limitations when using Bing Chat on Chrome compared to Edge. In Chrome, users are restricted to typing prompts of up to 2,000 words, whereas Edge allows for 4,000-word prompts. Additionally, conversations on Chrome reset after just five turns, whereas on Edge, they reset after 30 turns. Another notable point is that while using Bing Chat on Chrome, there is a persistent suggestion to download and use Edge for an optimal experience.

Google Chrome dominates the web browser market with a market share of around 77%. Expanding Bing Chat to Chrome could help the company acquire more users for Bing search. Microsoft has also promised to bring Bing Chat to other browsers on desktop and mobile in the coming months.

Microsoft has also introduced the dark mode for Bing Chat. You can enable Dark mode by selecting the hamburger menu in the top-right corner and then navigating to Appearance > Dark or System Default.

Bing Chat is also available via the SwiftKey app for Android and iOS. So, users can access the chatbot directly from the keyboard app while typing. The company confirms that users can use Bing Chat via SwiftKey 30 times a day without needing to sign in.
