Samsung has unveiled three new OLED gaming monitors as part of its 2027 Odyssey lineup at Gamescom 2026. The new Odyssey OLED G9, OLED G8 and OLED G7 focus on high refresh rates, OLED picture quality and different screen formats for different types of gamers.
The lineup comes alongside the new 1,100Hz Odyssey G6, which Samsung is positioning for competitive FPS gaming. I have covered the Odyssey G6 separately in my previous article, so this article focuses on the three new OLED models.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G9
The Odyssey OLED G9 is a 49-inch ultra-wide gaming monitor with a Dual QHD resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels. Samsung calls it the world’s first 49-inch DQHD gaming monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate.
It uses Samsung’s fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem technology. The five-layer panel structure is designed to improve efficiency and panel lifespan compared with the previous generation. Samsung also uses an RGB Stripe sub-pixel layout to improve text clarity and reduce color fringing.
The monitor offers a 0.03ms GtG response time and can reach up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness in a 3% window at 4K resolution. It also supports Dual Mode, giving users the option to run the monitor at 5120 x 1440 resolution and 360Hz or switch to 2560 x 720 resolution with a refresh rate of up to 720Hz.
The OLED G9 is clearly aimed at users who want an ultra-wide display for gaming without giving up a high refresh rate. The 49-inch screen provides a much wider field of view, which can be useful in racing games, simulation titles and other games designed around a wider view.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G8
The new Odyssey OLED G8 is a 32-inch UHD QD-OLED gaming monitor. It offers a 4K resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate, but its main highlight is the Triple Mode feature.
Users can switch between UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz and Full HD at 680Hz. This gives gamers more flexibility depending on the game and the performance their PC can deliver.
The OLED G8 also uses Samsung’s fifth-generation QD-OLED panel with Penta Tandem technology and RGB Stripe subpixels. It has a 0.03ms GtG response time and supports VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600.
Samsung has also added its Glare Free technology, which uses a less glossy film to reduce reflections from external light sources. The monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and is NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible.
Connectivity includes a DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 port, two HDMI ports and a USB-C port with up to 98W Power Delivery. It also has a USB hub and KVM support, making it suitable for users who want to connect and control multiple devices from the same monitor.
Samsung Odyssey OLED G7
The Odyssey OLED G7 takes a different approach with a large curved 42-inch display. Samsung describes it as the world’s first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor.
The monitor has a 4K OLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate and a 0.03ms GtG response time. It uses a 1000R curvature, which brings the edges of the large display closer to the user’s field of view.
Samsung says the 42-inch model provides around 72% more screen area than its previous 32-inch curved model. The larger display and curved design are aimed more at cinematic gaming, including RPG and open-world titles where a large screen can make the experience more immersive.
The OLED G7 also comes with Glare Free technology to reduce reflections from external light sources.
Availability and pricing
Samsung has not announced pricing for the new Odyssey OLED G9, OLED G8 or OLED G7 yet. Availability will also vary by market, with the company expected to provide launch details at a later date.
