Today, at a press event, Microsoft announces a big update for Bing. The new Bing comes with OpenAI’s GPT-4 model integration to provide a ChatGPT-like experience within Bing search.

Microsoft also demonstrated a number of searches on Bing. One of the questions, the answer was entirely answered by the chatbot. The answer included an itinerary alongside links to sources for more information.

“AI will fundamentally change every software category, starting with the largest category of all – search,” said Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO, Microsoft. “Today, we’re launching Bing and Edge powered by AI copilot and chat, to help people get more from search and the web.”

The company confirmed that these features are powered by an upgraded version of GPT 3.5 called the “Prometheus Model.” Microsoft claims that Prometheus Model is more powerful than GPT 3.5 and it can answer up-to-date information.

Microsoft is also launching a new version of Edge browser that features a new AI-powered sidebar. The company has also added two new functionalities: Chat and compose. You can ask for anything and get results. For example, ask Bing to help you compose an email or LinkedIn post.

For now, this company will not show ads in newly added AI features but it will monetize these capabilities through ads.

Both Bing and updated Edge are based on the same Prometheus model. The new Edge is now available preview. This AI capability integration in Edge gives it an advantage over Chrome and other browsers.

Google is also holding an event tomorrow to announce the ChatGPT rival and other AI-powered tools.
