Nvidia has today released new GPU drivers that can upscale old blurry web videos on RTX 30- and 40-series graphics cards. The new update brings RTX Video Super Resolution tech that works within Chrome or Edge browser to improve video quality and reduces video artifacts.

This impressive 4K upscaling technology has already been available on Nvidia’s Shield TV. Recent changes in the Chromium engine have allowed Nvidia to introduce the same feature to Chromium-based browsers with RTX 30- and 40-series cards.

The feature works on any web video. So, it can upscale content on any website or streaming app. It supports videos between 360p and 1440p up to 144Hz in frame rate to upscale content up to 4K.

You need to manually enable the feature from the NVIDIA control panel. Go to video -> Adjust video image settings -> RTX video enhancement. Enable it and select from four quality settings. The 4 level is the highest.

NVIDIA also claims that it will also support RTX 20 series in the coming months but it will take some time because the company will have to re-factor the algorithm for RTX 20 series GPUs.
