Mozilla has a good news for Firefox browser users. Firefox is finally getting pinch to zoom. Pinch to zoom lets you zoom in and out of a webpage by pinching in or out on a trackpad or touchscreen.

The pinch to zoom feature is being rolled out as a part of Firefox 83 starting today. It works on Windows and Mac trackpads and Windows touchscreen laptops.

This update also reduces memory usage by optimizing the “SpiderMonkey” JavaScript engine. This optimization boosts page load speeds by 15 percent and reduces memory usage by 8 percent.

Firefox has also added support for keyboard shortcuts in picture-in-picture video. You can now use right and left arrow keys to fast forward and rewind PIP videos by 15 seconds each.

Mozilla has also added HTTPS-Only Mode toggle. If enabled, Firefox will only load websites with HTTPS support. If a web page doesn’t support HTTPS, Firefox won’t load the web page.

Not sure why Mozilla took so long time to bring this feature. Other web browsers support ping to zoom for years. Pinch to zoom feature was first added by Apple in desktop Safari in back 2011. Internet Explorer added it in 2012 and Google added it to Chrome in 2013.
