Apple has announced the list of iPad models that will support iPadOS 27. The upcoming update brings several Apple Intelligence improvements, along with new productivity and AI-powered features designed for iPad users.

However, not every iPad will be able to run the new software. Apple has limited iPadOS 27 support to newer models with more powerful hardware.

iPadOS 27 Supported Devices

According to Apple, iPadOS 27 will be available on the following iPad models:

  • iPad Air (M1 and newer)
  • iPad Pro (M1 and newer)
  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)

This means support starts from:

  • iPad Air (5th generation) and newer
  • iPad Pro (5th generation) and newer
  • iPad mini with A17 Pro chip

Older iPads Miss Out on the Update

Apple has dropped support for several older iPad models with iPadOS 27.

Notably, standard iPad models are not included in the compatibility list. Older iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad Pro models that do not feature an M-series chip will also remain on the current version of iPadOS.

Many of the new features in iPadOS 27 rely on Apple Intelligence. These features process data directly on the device for privacy and speed, which requires significantly more computing power than older chips can provide.

As a result, Apple is focusing support on iPads powered by M-series chips and the latest A17 Pro processor.
