Today, Google has updated its Android Platform Versions statistics. Latest data reveals that Kitkat has hit 2.5% adoption rate. 62% of Android users are now using Android Jelly Bean. All other older versions have lost their share.
Gingerbread still has major share with 19%. Only 15.2% Android devices are running on Ice Cream Sandwich. Between February and March, Android 4.4 grabbed 0.7% share moving from 1.8 to 2.5. Android 4.3 and 4.2 also gained 0.7% and 0.8% respectively. Android 4.1 slipped 0.2% while Android 4.0 slipped 0.9%.
The data was gathered from new Google Play Store app. This app requires Android 2.2 and higher. SO, device running on lower versions are not included in this. And it is worth to mention that devices running on Android 2.2 or older had only 1% share in August 2013. Now, it will not be more than 0.1%.
