Google has announced a new AI-powered Android experience called Gemini Intelligence. The company says it combines Gemini AI with premium Android hardware to create a more proactive and personalized experience across devices.
Instead of working like a traditional voice assistant, Gemini Intelligence is designed to actively help users complete tasks across apps, understand screen content, automate actions, and personalize the Android experience.
The rollout will begin this summer on the latest Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10 devices. Later this year, the company plans to expand Gemini Intelligence to other Android products, including watches, cars, glasses, and laptops.
One of the biggest features of Gemini Intelligence is multi-step task automation. Google says Gemini will be able to perform tasks across multiple apps automatically. For example, users could ask Gemini to reserve a bike for a fitness class, find a syllabus from Gmail, and add required books to a shopping cart without manually switching between apps.
The company has reportedly spent months optimizing these features specifically for apps like food delivery and rideshare services to make interactions feel smoother and faster.
Gemini Intelligence can also use screen context and images to perform actions.
For example, users can long-press the power button while viewing a grocery list and ask Gemini to automatically build a shopping cart with those items for delivery. Similarly, users could take a photo of a travel brochure and ask Gemini to find similar tour packages online.
Google says users will still remain in control. Gemini only performs actions after receiving commands and stops once the task is completed.
Another major addition is Gemini integration inside Google Chrome on Android. Starting in late June, Gemini in Chrome will help users summarize webpages, compare information, research topics, and even automate certain tasks like booking appointments or reserving parking spots through Chrome auto browse.
Google is also upgrading Autofill with Google using Gemini’s Personal Intelligence system.
Instead of only filling basic forms, Android devices will now be able to pull relevant information from connected apps and services to complete more complex forms automatically. Google says this feature will remain fully opt-in, and users can disable it anytime.
The company also introduced a new Gboard feature called Rambler.
Rambler is designed to improve voice-to-text conversations by cleaning up natural speech patterns. People often repeat words, pause, or use filler words like “um” and “like” while speaking. Rambler automatically turns those spoken thoughts into cleaner and more polished text.
Google says the feature supports multilingual conversations as well. Users can mix languages in a single message, and Rambler will understand the context naturally.
Another interesting addition is “Create My Widget.”
This feature allows users to create completely custom Android widgets using natural language prompts. For example, users can ask Android to create a meal-planning widget, a cycling-focused weather widget, or other personalized dashboards powered by Gemini AI.
Google says Gemini Intelligence also introduces a refreshed Android design system based on Material 3 Expressive. The company claims the new interface is designed to reduce distractions and help users focus better while using their devices.
Overall, Gemini Intelligence feels like Google’s biggest attempt yet to deeply integrate AI into Android itself instead of treating Gemini as just another chatbot app.
