Jan Koum also said that WhatsApp sees more than 20 billion message transaction per day with 8 billion inbound, and 12 million outbound messages.

Twitter also announced 200 million active users back in December 2012. But Twitter and WhatsApp are different kind of services. Twitter has never been used for conversation.

In past few days, we had been listening rumors that Google is interested in buying WhatsApp. Later WhatsApp denied these rumors.

WhatsApp has less than 50 employees and company has more than 200 million users. This is the highest ratio of active users per employee of any active tech company.

Koum also said that they are yet to see drop off in number of users due to their recent decision of charging $0.99 per year. But the amount is very small for this kind of service. According to recent reports, social networking websites Twitter and Facebook are also losing charm and attention of younger users due to WhatsApp kind of services.
