If you are concerned about your personal data being misused or exposed, you could think of deleting your X account. Social media can be time-consuming and X is really addictive. If you feel that X is taking up too much of your time and attention, deleting your account can help you regain control. Social media can have a negative impact on mental health. X is the platform where hate spreads faster than positivity. If you find yourself experiencing stress, anxiety, or depression due to your X usage, deleting your account might be beneficial.
How to Delete X Account
X has no direct option to Delete account. You have to first deactivate your X account. If you do not access the account for the next 30 days after deactivation, your account will be deleted. So, it takes 30 days to delete an X account permanently. Now let’s see how to deactivate X account on different platforms.
Delete X account on the web
If you are using X on your PC using a desktop browser, you can find the option in Settings. Click here to open the Deactivate account page of X. Here, you see the Deactivate link at the bottom side of the page.
Click on this link. It will then ask you to confirm the password. So, Enter your X account password and click Deactivate.
This will finally deactivate your account. If you don’t reactivate your account in the next 30 days, your X account will be permanently deleted. After deactivating your account, do not access it again in the next 30 days. Your account will be deleted permanently. Once an X account is deleted, The company deletes the profile and data associated with your profile from its servers.
Delete X Account on the iOS
If you use X on your iPhone or iPad, you can use the X iOS app to deactivate your X account. X app for Android also gives you an option to deactivate your X account. The steps to delete an X account are the same on Android and iOS. I am adding screenshots of the iOS app. The same steps can be followed on Android.
Open the X app and click the hamburger icon at the top left corner to open menu options. Here click Settings and Privacy and then select Account. Now tap Deactivate your account.
It will open the screen where you have the option to Deactivate your X account. Click on the Deactivate button and X will ask to confirm your password. Enter the X account password and your X account will be deleted.
Now your X account will remain deactivated for the next 30 days. If you do not access your X account in the next 30 days, it will be permanently deleted.
How to Reactivate Your Account
Once your account has been deactivated beyond the 30-day grace period, it will be removed permanently from the platform. But, you can get your X account back if you log in to the account within 30 days. Everything will be the same and you will also get an email notification confirming your account is active again.
