Google has announced a new 3D emoji collection called Noto 3D. The company says the redesigned emojis are meant to make digital conversations feel more expressive and emotionally engaging. The new emojis were revealed during Android Show: I/O Edition.

According to Google, the new Noto 3D emojis are designed to add more “physicality” to emotions shared online. Instead of looking flat like traditional emoji, the new designs feature depth, lighting, textures, and more detailed expressions.

Google says this helps make messages feel more personal and alive.

The company also referenced its earlier emoji styles, including the popular “blob emoji” era from the 2010s, while positioning Noto 3D as the next evolution of visual communication.

The new emoji collection will start rolling out later this year across Google platforms, beginning with Google Pixel phones.

From the preview images shared by Google, the emoji appear more animated and polished compared to the company’s current flat-style emoji. The designs include realistic shadows, reflective surfaces, and softer textures while still maintaining the familiar emoji look people already recognize.
