Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 18 Fold at its autumn flagship product launch event in China. The new foldable smartphone features a mid-fold design with a 7.58-inch internal display, a 5.38-inch outer screen, the new XRING O3 processor, a 6,000mAh battery, and Leica-tuned cameras.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold uses a different approach to the traditional book-style foldable design. Both displays use an aspect ratio close to √2:1, which Xiaomi says matches the proportions of standard paper and makes the phone suitable for reading, productivity, and multitasking.
The internal display measures 7.58 inches and has a 1712×1168-pixel resolution. The external screen measures 5.38 inches with the same resolution. Both displays support a 1-120Hz LTPO refresh rate and offer up to 4,000 nits peak brightness. The screens also support DC dimming, while the internal display uses foldable ultra-thin glass and the outer display is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0.
The outer display is designed with a wider horizontal layout. Xiaomi says its on-screen keyboard is 8% wider than the keyboard found on typical 6.9-inch smartphones.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold measures 117.8×163.8×5.02mm when unfolded and has a folded thickness of 10.68mm. It weighs 219 grams. The phone comes in Nishino Red, Warm Gold-White, and Black colour options.
Xiaomi has used a 7-series aluminum alloy frame and says the phone can withstand drops from up to 1.2 meters. The folding mechanism uses the company’s next-generation Dragon Bone Hinge with a double-layer ultra-thin glass structure and organic flexible insulation materials. Xiaomi says it made 492 structural optimizations after environmental and simulation testing at different folding angles.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by the new XRING O3 flagship SoC. Xiaomi says the processor scores more than 5 million points in benchmark testing. It offers a 60% improvement in multi-core CPU performance while reducing power consumption by 25% under medium and low loads. The GPU performance is claimed to be 85% higher while using 64% less power.
The integrated NPU delivers 200 TOPS of Tensor computing performance and 3.13 TFLOPS of Vector computing performance. The phone is also among the first commercial devices to use LPDDR6 memory, developed by Xiaomi in collaboration with Changxin Memory.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold runs HyperOS 4. Xiaomi has upgraded the multitasking experience to support up to six split-screen applications at the same time. It also integrates the Super Xiao Ai Inspiration Ball for voice-controlled workflows and other AI features.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold features a Leica co-engineered triple rear camera setup. It includes a 200MP main camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP Leica periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. The telephoto camera uses a Leica Summilux lens. The phone can also record videos at up to 8K resolution.
There are 16MP cameras on both the inner and outer displays for selfies and video calls.
Other features include dual SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, UWB, USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2, an infrared sensor, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone also has dual 1115 speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio support.
The phone packs a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 20% silicon content and an energy density of 920Wh/L. It supports 67W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi has also introduced a Ceramic Limited Edition of the 18 Fold. It uses silicon nitride ceramic designed to offer higher surface hardness while keeping the device lightweight. The special edition is available only with 16GB LPDDR6 RAM and 1TB storage, with production limited to 1,500 units.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold starts at 10,999 yuan for the 12GB + 256GB model. The 12GB + 512GB variant costs 11,999 yuan, while the 16GB + 512GB version is priced at 12,999 yuan. The 16GB LPDDR6 + 1TB model costs 14,999 yuan. The Ceramic Limited Edition with 16GB LPDDR6 RAM and 1TB storage costs 15,999 yuan.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is currently available for pre-order in China and will go on sale at 10:00 AM on September 10. Xiaomi has not yet announced international availability.
