Black Myth: Wukong Set to Launch on Xbox Series This August

Black Myth: Wukong

After a year-long wait, Black Myth: Wukong is finally coming to Xbox Series X|S. Developer Game Science has announced that the highly anticipated action RPG will release on August 20, 2025. Pre-orders for the Xbox version will begin on June 18.

Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG deeply inspired by Chinese mythology. It retells the classic tale of Journey to the West, one of the most respected and loved stories in Chinese literature. In the game, you play as “The Destined One” — a mysterious warrior who embarks on a dangerous quest filled with gods, monsters, and ancient magic.

The game takes players through breathtaking landscapes, mythical locations, and intense battles. Every area is filled with secrets and rich with visual detail, inspired by the legends of ancient China.

The combat in Black Myth: Wukong is one of its biggest highlights. Players will face a variety of powerful enemies, each with unique abilities and backstories. From massive beasts to clever demons, every encounter feels like a boss fight.

Much like Sekiro or Elden Ring, each enemy pushes you to adapt your style and master your skills. You will not just win by brute force. Timing, dodging, and choosing the right spells or weapons will decide your survival.

You can cast spells, transform into other creatures, and use magical tools. There is a deep combat system that lets you mix and match skills to suit how you like to play.

Another interesting feature is the emotional depth of the characters. Many of the enemies you fight have their own stories. Some are tragic, some are bitter, and others are twisted by love, hate, or greed.

The Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong is long overdue, but this may be the perfect time for it. With current-gen consoles now in more homes and interest in Eastern mythology on the rise, the game could reach a much wider audience.
