MSI has announced a new flagship gaming monitor at Computex, and it is easily one of the most extreme displays shown at the event this year. Called the MSI MPG OLED 322URDX36, the monitor is being promoted as the world’s first triple-mode QD-OLED gaming monitor.

What makes it special is its ability to switch between three different resolution and refresh rate combinations depending on the type of game you are playing.

Users can run the monitor at:

  • 4K resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate
  • 1440p resolution with a massive 520Hz refresh rate
  • Full HD resolution with an insane 680Hz refresh rate

Players can prioritize image quality or raw speed depending on the game. For cinematic single-player titles and immersive gaming, 4K at 360Hz sounds incredibly high-end. But competitive esports players chasing the lowest latency and fastest response times can switch to 2K or 1080p modes with extremely high refresh rates.

Dual-mode gaming monitors have already become popular recently, especially among esports gamers who want both high resolution and high refresh rate options in a single display. MSI is now pushing that concept even further with a third mode.

The monitor uses Samsung’s latest 4th-generation QD-OLED panel with RGB Penta Tandem technology. According to MSI, the panel uses five RGB layers to improve brightness, color accuracy, and efficiency. The company also says the RGB stripe sub-pixel layout helps reduce color fringing issues and improves text clarity, which has been one of the common complaints with some OLED monitors.

MSI is also introducing something called DarkArmor film on the display. The company claims it can improve black levels by up to 40% while also making the screen more resistant to scratches.

On the specs sheet, the monitor is packed with nearly every modern gaming display feature currently available. It supports NVIDIA G-SYNC, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, and VESA ClearMR 18000 certification. MSI has also included DisplayPort 2.1 with 80Gbps bandwidth, which is important because extremely high refresh rates at high resolutions require massive data throughput.

The monitor also includes several AI-focused features like AI Navigator and an AI Care sensor, though MSI has not fully detailed how these features work yet.

Most casual players probably will not notice a huge difference between 360Hz and 680Hz in normal gaming. But esports players are always chasing every small competitive advantage possible, and manufacturers clearly see that demand.

The bigger story may actually be OLED itself. OLED monitors were once considered risky for PC gaming because of burn-in concerns and high prices. But companies like MSI, Samsung, ASUS, and Alienware are now heavily investing in OLED gaming displays because response times, contrast levels, and HDR performance are far ahead of traditional LCD panels.

MSI has not yet revealed pricing or release details for the MPG OLED 322URDX36. More information is expected during Computex. But considering the specifications and cutting-edge panel technology, this will almost certainly be an ultra-premium gaming monitor aimed at enthusiasts and competitive players.
