Apple is doubling down on its India ambitions. In a recent earnings call, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company will open new Apple Stores in India later this year. While he did not disclose the exact locations, reports suggest that four new stores are coming to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Noida.
Reports suggest Apple has already finalized two locations: Pune’s Kopa Mall and Noida’s Mall of India. The new Mumbai store will be the second one in the city, after Apple BKC. The company is still looking for locations in Bengaluru and Mumbai for the remaining stores.
Apple already has two official stores—Apple BKC in Mumbai and Apple Saket in Delhi, both launched in April 2023. Now, it is ready to expand further and get closer to its Indian customers.
There are several reasons behind Apple’s growing interest in India. The biggest one is that India is now becoming a major hub for iPhone production. In fact, Cook also said that most of the iPhones sold in the US this quarter will be made in India.
“For the June quarter, we do expect the majority of the iPhones sold in the US will have India as their country of origin,” said Tim Cook.
This is a big deal. For years, Apple relied mostly on China to make its products. But now, due to rising costs, political issues, and supply chain risks, Apple is shifting more production to India and Vietnam. India is also offering incentives through the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme, making it attractive for Apple to manufacture here.
Another reason is simple: India is one of the fastest-growing smartphone markets in the world, and more people are now able to afford Apple products.
Many people think Apple Stores are just fancy showrooms, but there’s more to it Having more Apple Stores in India is great for customers. You get official repairs and support, which is a big deal. There’s no need to rely on resellers, who sometimes charge extra or sell outdated models. Some resellers even force people to buy accessories from them. At Apple Store, you can experience Apple products in-person before buying. Apple will likely offer free workshops, photography sessions, and learning events. This will also help Apple connect better with Indian customers, improve brand loyalty, and boost sales.

With manufacturing shifting to India and more retail stores opening soon, Apple is clearly investing heavily in the country. Apple is no longer treating India as just another market—it is becoming a core part of Apple’s global plans.
We may also see more changes soon, like better pricing for locally made iPhones and increased focus on Apple’s services like iCloud, Apple Music, and Apple TV+.
