Flipkart has quietly begun testing its 10-minute grocery delivery service, Flipkart Minutes. The company initially rolled out the service in Bengaluru last month without making an official announcement. Now, Flipkart has expanded operations to select areas in Gurugram.
On September 9, Flipkart released a promotional video for Flipkart Minutes It confirms that Flipkart is set to make an official announcement soon.
Flipkart already offers slot-based delivery services similar to BigBasket and Amazon Fresh. Bigbasket is already working to transform its business model to quick commerce. Amazon is also planing to enter the space next year.
The quick-commerce sector is booming, with Blinkit and Zepto leading the market. Blinkit, owned by Zomato, holds approximately 40% of the market share and is expanding its services to tier-2 cities. Meanwhile, Zepto has grown into a $5 billion company, commanding about 32% of the market.
I don’t think Flipkart should invest in a quick commerce space. The company already struggles to deliver regular orders on time, so how can it guarantee deliveries within 10 minutes? I never received any of my Flipkart orders in time. So, I am never going to fall into its 10-minute delivery trap delivery trap.
