Microsoft has unveiled its next-generation laptop powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processors. Thanks to the neural processing unit, the company calls it a “Copilot+ PC.”
The new Surface Laptop comes in two sizes: 13.8-inch and 15-inch having a resolution of 2,304 x 1,536 pixels and 2,496 x 1,664 pixels respectively. The display supports HDR and has a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports three 4K monitors.
The laptop is powered by Qualcomm’s latest chips that promise to be 86% faster than the Intel-powered Surface Laptop 5. The 13.8-inch variant will come with Snapdragon X Elite or Plus, however, the 15-inch will pack Snapdragon X Elite. You will also have 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM options.
Microsoft promises up to 20 hours of battery life in the 13.8-inch model and the 15-inch variant promises up to 22 hours of battery life. The 13.8-inch version will be shipped with a 39-watt charger and the 15-inch variant will get a 65-watt charger.
The laptop has two USB-C/USB4 ports, one USB-A 3.1 port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and an old Surface Connect port. The 15-inch variant also gets a microSDXC card reader. For wireless connectivity, the laptop has Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Surface Laptop also includes a haptic trackpad, a 1080p webcam with Windows Hello and Windows Studio effects, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, and Studio microphones with voice focus.
The Surface Laptop starts at $999 for the 13.8-inch version or $1,199.99 for the 15-inch version. It is now up for pre-order and will go on sale starting June 18.
