Twitter introduces Blue for Business

Blue for Business

Twitter has launched “Blue for Business” to help brands uniquely distinguish themselves on Twitter. It provides a gold checkmark to businesses and an additional badge to identify brands and people associated with it.

Brands and media houses will have a square profile picture making it easier to identify a brand on the platform. Brands can also link the accounts of their employees. After this, the brand’s icon will be displayed next to the person’s profile display name. It will make it clear that the person works for the same organization. For example, see the tweet below. Twitter’s square badge next to the Blue tick mark makes it clear that Crawford works for Twitter.

A company can link any number of businesses, brands, and individuals to its account.

“By creating this connection, we’re making it possible for businesses to create networks within their own organizations–on Twitter. Businesses can affiliate their leadership, brands, support handles, employees or teams. Journalists, sports team players, or movie characters can all be affiliated,” Twitter said in a blog post.

Twitter has yet to make it clear how much the company will charge for Blue for Business. There could also be other features associated with Blue for Business. The company is launching Blue for Business with select businesses in a pilot program. In the coming months, the company plans to expand Blue for Business to more organizations next year.
