Last year at I/O, Google announced two apps Allo and Duo. The Duo was just for video calls and Allo was for instant messaging with various cool features.

Both the apps were independent without any integration. It was because Google wanted to keep apps simple with minimal options. But Google is changing this with today’s update.

Now Google Allow allows users to start a Duo call directly from Allo recipient screen. When you open the conversation screen, you will see the option to start Duo video calls just before the profile picture of the recipient at the top side of the screen.

In past few months, Google added lots of features to Allo to make it interesting but it failed to compete with WhatsApp. Recently it added AI based selfie stickers. Allo also allows chat backup, document support, link previews, smart reply, and more. You also have the option for an encrypted chat.

This new update is helpful for those who regularly use Allo and Duo. It will surely save few seconds that you needed to take in switching from Allo to Duo and then placing the call.

The update is now available starting today. It may take few days to reach all the users. So wait few days if you cannot see the dual video call option in All conversation window.

If you have not yet tried Google Allo, you can download it from Play Store for free.
