After a year of working on the app-only model, Myntra has finally decided to bring its desktop website back. Myntra found that its app-only model didn’t meet its expectation and it should now relaunch its desktop site to avoid more loss.

Earlier this year, Myntra brought its mobile site back. At that time, few reports confirmed that Myntra could also bring the desktop site back.

“We found that while a majority of the growth is driven by mobile, the volume of users on the desktop hasn’t decreased. We’ve launched a number of new categories such as home furnishing and (fine) jewellery where customers want to see products on a larger screen. Finally, according to our data, women customers, who are a key area of focus for us, in particular, want to have the option of shopping across channels,” said, Myntra chief executive Ananth Narayanan to Livemint.

Myntra had shutdown its website to adopt the app-only strategy in May last year. The company had claimed that 95% of Myntra’s traffic came through mobile devices and around 70% sales had been driven through mobile. So, Myntra decided to operate only as app-only.

Flipkart, parent company of Myntra also planned to ditch website to become app-only. It also shutdown its mobile site and had started forcing mobile users to come on app. But Flipkart also brought back its mobile site and now dropped the plan to become app-only.
