WhatsAppPopular social messaging app Whatsapp now has more than 800 million active users on its platform. These numbers were revealed by Jan Koum, the CEO and co-founder of WhatsAp, last Friday. If this rate of growth will continue, Whatsapp will cross 1 billion active users mark by the end of this year. It is adding 100 million users in every four months.

No other messaging app is close to Whatsapp. Facebook’s messenger is at second place with 600 million users.

Few weeks back, it also added voice calling feature on its Android app. This feature will soon be available on other platforms. Facebook expects to grow with better rate with this new calling feature.

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that he will consider monetizing Whatsapp only after it will have 1 billion users. So, we can expect ads on WhatsApp from next year. We are just assuming it to be ads. Facebook may use other ways to monetize the app. Developers are also demanding for Whatsapp API. Until now, there is no sign or this, but we can also expect this to come soon. I wish this wouldn’t lead to spam.

Few weeks back, we also saw the leaked Facebook and Whatsapp integration. It seems Facebook and WhatsApp teams are working various things. So, be ready to see new changes in coming months.
