Gaming headsets are one of the important accessories gamers care about while playing games. One can use any ordinary headset, but the quality of headset affects the gaming performance. It is very important to have a good gaming headset providing an acoustic experience while gaming. Not just sound, it should also offer a microphone to connect with team members for proper communication and sync. HyperX, the division of Kingston launched a range of gaming headset for gamers. Cloud Core is one of the members of HyperX gaming headset series which aims to offer a good quality sound experience while gaming. Let us take a close look on this headphone to see what is offers and what it misses.

The HyperX Cloud Core from Kingston comes in a large box which confirms the large size of the headset. Within the box, you have a foam padding and following things.:

  • Kingston HyperX Cloud Core Headset
  • 3.5mm Splitter (Female) to 3.5mm (Male) Mic In and Audio Out
  • Microphone Attachment for Headset (3.5mm Male Connector)

Kingston Cloud Pro works with your PC, PS4, Wii U, XBox and even with mobile devices. So, you can not just use it for gaming but also for watching movies and listening to music.

Design and Build

HyperX Cloud looks heavy but weight is less than what you expect. it is designed as an around the ear headset and offers premium finish. It feels solid due to metal work. Plastic is also involved in the design, but company use good quality plastic to maintain its premium construction. The outer covering is made of metal but covered with leather. The headband is also made of metal covered with leather. Earcups also have metal plates with HyperX logo. Earcups have leather and foam padding to offer soft and comfortable environment.

Detachable microphone is also there in the box. In the left earpad, it has 3.5 mm port to attach the mic. It can be bent to be better positioned to suit your preferences

Being a gaming headset, one will use it for a long time. So, comfort is an important thing. The tagline of the headset is “Comfortable to the core”, and it justifies the tagline. It does not add any stain even if you use it for a long time. It easily fits in your head and ear and offer a distraction free environment. Weight is high, but you cannot feel if when you are using it. It comes with balance in terms of the tightness of the headband. So, you will feel toral comfort.

The only thing I didn’t like was the exposed wires connecting the headband and the ear cups. This wire does not have any threading and seems to be weak.

In case, you need long wire, it comes with separate audio cable extender. So, use this to extend the length.

Sound

Sound experience is very good. If you are a gamer, you will feel how nicely it delivers sound experience. In shooting games, sound plays an important role and hence one should go with a good gaming headset. This headset is capable of deep booming bass and crisp treble. I tried it with various games and found it impressive.

Not just for gaming, it is also very good for experiencing music and watching movies. It is primarily for gamers but is a multi-purpose headset.

A built-in microphone also performs good and delivers noise free sound to your team-mates.

Final words

HyperX Cloud Core is a good quality gaming headset for those who do not want to spend a lot. It is perfect in terms of sound quality and comfort. Even if it does not come with perks of expensive headsets, you will still find it good. Pricing is around Rs. 3500 in India and it is budget friendly for most of the people.
