Comparison: Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 1S

Redmi Note 3 VS. Le 1S

Last month, LeEco launched its Le 1S smartphone in Indian market with awesome metal build good performance in just Rs. 10999. For the whole month, Indian smartphone buyers were busy in registering for flash sales and putting their efforts to buy this phone. But, the change in month created a big road block for LeEco with the launch of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. This phone also comes with similar kind of metal build and good performance. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes in 2 variants: 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage for Rs. 9999 and 3GB RAM, 32 GB storage for 11998. Now, people have 3 phones with similar kind of metal design and performance claims confusing them which one to buy. I am using both devices to test them in similar kind of environment to find which one is performing better in what. Based on my personal experience with LeEco Le 1S and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, I am trying to compare Xiaomi Redmi Note 3and LeEco Le 1S. I want to make it clear that I am using 2GB RAM variant and I will be using the same in this comparison. If you are interested in buying 3GB RAM variant, you can expect better multitasking and performance.

Before you read more, I recommend you to check side by side comparison of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 1s.

To make it clear, I have divided the comparison into segments of design, display, performance, UI, camera, connectivity and battery. It will make help in making the better decision based on your priorities.

Redmi Note 3 Vs. Le 1S Comparison

Design

First of all, we will talk about the build quality and design of both phones, As I already mentioned, both phones come with similar kind of metal build. But, LeEco Le 1S is more attractive. Redmi Note 3 comes with curves at the edges of back side to offer comfortable grip. LeEco Le 1S does not come with this kind of curves but its chamfered edges look more attractive. I didn’t find any difference in the comfort due to this difference.

Redmi Note 3 VS. Le 1S

In the hand, Le 1S feels more premium and higher class device as compared to Redmi Note 3.

Placement of camera and speaker is different in LeEco Le 1S. While placement of camera doesn’t matter, I think placement of speaker at below side is additional advantage in LeEco Le 1S. It does not block speaker if you are placing it on bed. Most of the people face this problem. When phone is on bed, bed blocks speaker at back panel. You may miss calls if you are not near your phone.

Placement of fingerprint sensor is same on both phones but fingerprint in LeEco Le 1s is more attractive due to glass finish.

Even if Redmi Note 3 comes with larger battery, it managed to keep its weight in control. Wight of Le 1s is slightly larger with 169 grams. The weight of Redmi Note 3 is 164 grams. But Redmi Note 3 is thicker.

In final works, LeEco Le 1S is more beautiful in terms of design and build.

Display

Both phones come with full HD 5.5-inch display, I feel that LeEco Le 1s offers better quality display.

Redmi Note 3 Vs. Le 1S Comparison

I also want to mention that Redmi Note 3 come with few camera modes to offer you better experience in outdoors and in night. It’s reading mode can be a good thing in display. But overall in terms of colors, sharpness and brightness, Le 1s seems to be winning this segment.

LeEco Le 1S offers gorilla glass 3 protection on display while Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with a scratch resistant glass. Xiaomi didn’t confirm the protection they are using on the display.

UI

Le 1S runs on its EUI based on Lollipop and Redmi Note 3 runs on MIUI 7 based on Lollipop. It could personal choice in this segment. I Like EUI because I feel MIUI a bit dull. In terms of software performance, I found the similar experience with lag sometimes in both but overall great experience. EUI and MIUI both come with a special set of features, permission control, and other things. It may be a personal choice to prefer one.

Performance

When I reviewed Le 1s, I found its performance great with good multitasking capabilities. But, Xiaomi seems to beat that performance with its better optimized Snapdragon 650 processor. Le 1S is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 processor which also offers good performance, but Snapdragon 650 is slightly better.

Le 1S comes with 3 GB RAM while Redmi Note 3 comes with 2 GB RAM (I am using 2 GB RAM variant in comparison). 3GB RAM will be an advantage for higher multi-tasking.

Not just experience, benchmarking scores are also high in Redmi Note 3. If you check the benchmarking scores on different benchmarking apps, Redmi Note 3 beats Le 1s by a large margin.

Gaming performance was almost similar in both phones. But while playing high-end games, you will be more comfortable on Redmi Note 3.

Camera

On papers, the camera of Redmi Note 3 is better than the camera of Le 1 S. Redmi Note 3 comes with 16 megapixels rear camera and a 5 megapixels front camera. Le 1s comes with a 13 megapixels rear camera and a 5 megapixels front camera.

Camera software of both phones is clean and good performing. If I talk about photography performance, Redmi Note 3 is slightly better. I was impressed with camera performance of Le 1s in outdoor but its indoor photography was not good. LeEco managed to improve the performance of LeEco Le 1s with a software update. Now, Le 1s is better than it was earlier.

In indoor, both phones are similar performing. But in Outdoor, Redmi note 3 is better in terms of colors. Colors look natural in Redmi Note 3. But, I want you to decide this by looking at camera samples below.

It is worth to point that field of view in Le 1s camera is larger in both rear and front camera. So, you can capture more area than you can capture from Redmi Note 3 from the same position. I also adding camera samples of same things captured with same position and with same kind of camera settings.

In terms of video recording, Le 1S comes with up to 4K video recording support while Redmi Note 3 supports only full HD video recording. But Snapdragon 650 chipset supports 4K video recording and hence you can manage to record 4K videos with third-party apps. Native camera app of Redmi Note 3 does not allow 4K video recording.

Fingerprint sensor

Both phones come with the fingerprint sensor and I didn’t find any differences. Both phones have similar kind of miss and match ratio. In terms of physical look, Le 1s offers attractive fingerprint sensor. But performance matters.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, both phones look similar with one noticeable difference. Le 1s comes with USB Type-C port but Redmi Note 3 comes with micro USB. Other collectivity features are similar with both phones supporting LTE Indian bands, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. GLONASS, FM Radio and Bluetooth LE is an extra advantage in Redmi Note 3.

Battery

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 offers larger battery. Redmi Note 3 is packed with a 4000 mAh battery while LeEco Le 1S offers 3000 mAh battery. Larger battery with optimized performances makes Redmi Note 3 a better phone in terms of battery. Le 1s is also not bad and offers around a day mixed usage but Redmi Note 3 is better.

Final verdict:

If we mix all segments to bring final results, Redmi Note 3 seems to be better and priced lower. For me, battery is an important factor and hence I am giving Redmi Note 3 a priority. I am not counting performance on the basis of benchmarking scores and hence, both phones are almost similar in terms of performance. But, if you go with 3GB RAM variant, you get considerable amount of performance boost over Le 1s. The camera of Redmi Note 3 is also better. For me, Le 1s is better in terms of UI, Design and display. Final verdict goes with Redmi Note 3.

I will be happy with your words on the comparison. You can leave your comments.
