Motorola is preparing to launch the new Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ in India on June 4th. The smartphone will become the fourth device in the Edge 70 lineup after the Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion, and Edge 70 Pro. More importantly, this is the first time Motorola is introducing a “Pro+” model in the Edge series.
Ahead of the official launch, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ has now appeared on Geekbench. The listing gives us a closer look at its expected performance and hardware setup. While the phone looks impressive in terms of camera features and design, the benchmark listing has also raised a few interesting questions about Motorola’s positioning strategy.
According to the Geekbench listing, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ is powered by the MediaTek MT6899 chipset, which is believed to be the Dimensity 8400 processor. The chipset is built on a 4nm process and is generally aimed at upper mid-range smartphones.

On Geekbench, the phone scored 1,722 in single-core tests and 5,623 in multi-core performance. The listing also confirms 12GB RAM and Android 16 out of the box.
What makes this leak interesting is the fact that the regular Motorola Edge 70 Pro reportedly uses the Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, which actually offers higher clock speeds than the Dimensity 8400. In simple terms, the supposedly more premium Edge 70 Pro+ may not necessarily be the more powerful device in the lineup.
Normally, a “Pro+” smartphone is expected to deliver upgrades across almost every area, especially performance. But Motorola seems to be taking a different approach here. Instead of focusing on raw power, the company appears to be pushing the Edge 70 Pro+ as a camera-focused premium device.
Most smartphone buyers today do not really notice small benchmark differences in daily usage. What users notice more is camera quality, battery life, design, display quality, and software experience. Motorola may be betting that people shopping in this segment care more about photography and premium styling than a slightly faster processor.
The camera hardware also looks promising. Motorola has officially confirmed that the Edge 70 Pro+ will feature a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom. That alone gives it a major advantage over the regular Edge 70 Pro. Periscope cameras are still relatively rare in upper mid-range phones, and they can dramatically improve zoom photography.
The phone is also confirmed to feature a 50MP Sony Lytia 710 main sensor with 3.5-degree optical image stabilisation. Motorola is adding several AI-powered camera features as well, including frame stabilisation, improved night photography, and a 50x AI Super Zoom Pro mode.
Based on the leaked details, Motorola seems to be targeting users who enjoy mobile photography, travel photography, portrait shots, and zoom photography instead of hardcore gamers.

The design also appears to be getting a lot of attention. Motorola will offer the Edge 70 Pro+ in three Pantone-inspired finishes. These include Pantone Chicory Coffee with a sculpted wood texture, Pantone Stormy Sea with a twill-inspired finish, and Pantone Zinfandel with a satin-style look. Motorola has been experimenting with unique textures and materials recently, and that strategy seems to be continuing here as well.
Another interesting detail is the additional button visible on the left side of the phone. Motorola has not explained its purpose yet, but speculation suggests it could be a customizable shortcut key or a dedicated AI feature button.
The important question now is pricing. If Motorola prices the Edge 70 Pro+ too close to flagship phones, the Dimensity 8400 chipset could become difficult to justify. Buyers in the premium segment usually compare processors very closely, especially when brands like OnePlus, iQOO, and Xiaomi are offering more powerful chipsets in similar price ranges.
However, if Motorola keeps the pricing aggressive and focuses on camera performance, clean software, premium design, and battery life, the Edge 70 Pro+ could still become a very attractive option.
