Facebook has made available its chat via web on messenger.com. So, you can only access Facebook chat via this new platform without accessing the social network. So, you can concentrate on conversation.

To get started, visit messenger.com with your Facebook account. All your Facebook messages will already there and you can access your old conversations and start a new conversation. You can access all the features which are available in messenger app. You can also make voice calls and  video calls.

At the top left side, there is also a gear icon to adjust settings and logout from the platform. You can also turn on desktop notifications from settings.

Now a big question is whether a dedicated desktop app will be available or not. We can expect the desktop app in coming months.
