Canonical has reduced the price of its upcoming smartphone Ubuntu Edge second times in its $32 million crowdfunding campaign. Now, the smartphone will cost only $695 in its remaining 14 days Indiegogo campaign.

Ubuntu Edge was originally announced for $830. Interested customers can now pre-order it for the reduced price. Canonical also announced that there will be no further price cut. Any customer that previously backed the Edge at higher price will get the refund of the difference cost at the end of the campaign.

Canonical has only managed to raise $8.7 million out of its $32 million goal. Company took 17 days in collecting $8.7 million. But, it has to complete the goal in just 14 days. It seems a bit hard at the moment. Company wish that the price cut will convince few more persons to pull the trigger for the Ubuntu Edge. After this price cut, company will have to sell around 33,000 smartphones.

Ubuntu has a long successful history of being a free operating system with millions of users. Now, it will be interesting to see how it managed to convert its users into customers.
