Apple has confirmed that it is facing supply issues with its desktop lineup. During its Q2 2026 earnings call, the company said that the Mac mini and Mac Studio may take “several months” before supply catches up with demand.

The confirmation came from CEO Tim Cook, who said the company “undercalled the demand” for these products. In simple terms, Apple did not expect so many people to buy them so quickly.

The latest generation of the Mac mini, especially the Mac mini M4, has seen a big jump in popularity. Earlier, the Mac mini was seen as a niche product, mainly used by developers or users who wanted a small desktop.

Now this perception has changed. With Apple Silicon, the Mac mini has become much more powerful and efficient. It now offers strong performance for coding, editing, and even heavier workloads, while still being compact and relatively affordable. This has made it attractive to a wider group of users.

Because of this surge in demand, many buyers are facing issues. In several regions, popular configurations are either out of stock or have long delivery timelines.

I also checked for the base model of the Mac mini M4 recently. It is one of the best value options right now, but it is not easily available. In many cases, it is either sold out or showing delayed delivery. This clearly shows how strong the demand is.

The supply issue comes at a time when Apple’s Mac business is performing well. Apple reported $111.2 billion in total revenue in Q2 2026. This is a 17% increase year-on-year. Mac revenue alone reached $8.4 billion. These numbers show that more people are buying Macs than before. While this is good for Apple, it also puts pressure on supply.

Apple has not shared an exact timeline for when the situation will improve. The company has only said it may take “several months” to reach a balance between supply and demand.

This means buyers may need to wait, especially if they are looking for specific configurations.
