YouTube app for Android and iOS now allows users to share videos with timestamps. Previously the option was only available on the web. The feature lets users share videos starting at the specified timestamp. Clicking on the link starts the video from the timestamp instead of the beginning.

When you tap the share button on the mobile app, you will now see a toggle at the top. Tapping on will add the timestamp to the URL automatically. However, the app still doesn’t let users manually enter the timestamp. So, you need to manually scroll through the video timeline to the timestamp you want to share.

This doesn’t seem a big change but it is a good addition. I tried to check the feature on my phone but didn’t get the toggle. So, I am not sure if the feature is available to all users or is being out to a limited set of users.

For now, mobile users need to manually add the timestamp in the video URL if they want to share the video with a timestamp. For example, if the video URL is: https://youtu.be/07M8efQHhm0 and I want to share the URL with a timestamp of 27 seconds, the URL will become https://youtu.be/07M8efQHhm0?t=27.
