The ride-sharing app, Uber has today confirmed it is partnering with several EV fleet providers to offer sustainable, zero-emission rides to its customers under the Uber Green initiative.
Uber claims that it is committed to becoming a zero-emissions mobility platform by 2040 globally.
Uber Green will be launched starting June 2023 in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru cities. The company has partnered with Lithium Urban Technologies, Everest Fleet, and Moove to reply 25,000 EVs to push EV mobility across Uber’s top seven cities.
“India’s huge scale and electrification momentum makes the country a priority for Uber as we seek to meet our commitment to electrify every ride on our platform by 2040,” said Andrew Macdonald, the senior vice president for mobility and business operations at Uber.
Uber is also partnering with Zypp to deploy 10,000 electric two-wheelers by 2024. The company already has over 1000 Zypp Electric two-wheelers deployed on Uber Moto in Delhi.
Uber has also signed MoU with SIDBI to support the purchase of cleaner fuel vehicles. This partnership aims to provide Rs 1000 crores loans to create an enabling environment to shift from high-emission fuel vehicles to EVs.
For EV Charging Infrastructure, the company also partnered with Jio-bp to enable drivers on the Uber platform to get access to their charging networks. It is also partnering with GMR Green Energy to create bespoke charging facilities.
