Asus has officially introduced its first gaming handheld device, ROG Ally. The handheld gaming device runs Windows 11. ROG Ally aims to compete against Nintendo Switch OLED and the Steam Deck.
ROG Ally features a 7-inch Full-HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of peak brightness. It also boasts sRGB 100% color gamut and features FreeSync Premium. The display has a 7ms response time. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and DTX Coating. DXC coating reduces surface reflections to ensure you get better visibility in bright or outdoor environments.
The handheld packs AMD’s latest 4nm Ryzen ZI Extreme processor with AMD Radeon graphics. It also packs 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD. For keeping the device cool for long gaming sessions, it uses a Zero Gravity Thermal System mesh design and a dual fan system. It also has ROG Dust Filter and 0.1mm Ultra-thin Fins to keep the internals clean.
For gaming controls, the device has ABXY buttons, D-pad, L&R Hall Effect, analog triggers, L&R bumpers, a View button, a Menu button, a Command Center button, and an Armoury Crate button. It also has 2 assignable grip buttons
The device also has dual smartAmp speakers that are DolbyAtmos-certified. It also supports Hi-Res Audio and two-way AI noise cancellation. Connectivity options are Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, ROG XG Mobile Interface, a 3.5mm Audio Jack combo, a USB Type-C combo, and more. It also has a built-in fingerprint sensor and Microsoft Pluton security processor.
ROG Ally packs a 40Wh battery and comes with a 65W charger. You can get up to 2 hours of heavy gaming on a fully charged battery. It also supports fast charging that enables the device to charge from 0-50% in just 30 minutes.
ROG Ally with Ryzen Z1 Extreme is priced at $699 and the Ryzen Z1 variant costs $599. The Ryzen Z1 Extreme model will be available from June 13th and the Ryzen Z1 variant will be available in Q3 2023. The device also comes with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for 3 months.
