Twitter has added another feature for Twitter Blue subscribers. As per the update on the Twitter Blue page, Blue subscribers can now upload 60-minute-long videos from the web at 1080p resolution. The video file can be up to 2GB in file size.

The previous limit was up to 10 minutes of videos at 1080p with a 512MB file size limit. This older limit is still applicable if you are uploading video from an Android or iOS app.

Twitter also confirms that the platform could modify the quality of the video for distribution.

“We strive to maintain the highest possible video quality for all videos uploaded to our platform. However, we may modify or adapt your original video for distribution, syndication, publication, or broadcast by us and our partners and/or make changes in order to adapt it to different media, including modifying the resolution and bitrate of the original video while streaming based on the speed and stability of the viewer’s internet connection,” said the company.

Allowing longer videos will also increase Twitter’s moderation work. Users could upload pirated videos or episodes of TV shows on the platform. Twitter will have to work on that to avoid legal troubles.

Twitter will have to work on the monetization option if it wants users to start posting videos actively. Elon Musk previously showed an interest in making Twitter a platform for creators. If it is allowing longer videos, it should work on something similar to YouTube to let creators earn from their videos.

Twitter is also now giving priority to Blue subscribers in replies. It means users will see replies by Blue subscribers before other replies. Now it will be interesting to see how the company plans to tackle trolls and bots.
