Truecaller is one of the most popular caller id apps that lets users identify unknown callers and block unwanted calls. Now the company has partnered with several Android manufacturers to bring the Truecaller app pre-installed in millions of Android phones sold in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Latin American markets. Truecaller didn’t confirm the brands it is partnering with.

The company also confirmed that the app will be pre-installed but wouldn’t be enabled by default. That means users won’t be forced to use the app.

“Truecaller remains one of the most downloaded apps in several large countries. However, not every smartphone user is tech-savvy enough to download an app. Anecdotally, we often hear how first-time smartphone users in emerging markets take the help of shopkeepers or friends and family to download Truecaller. This move is in line with our global ambitions to make it available for everyone, but also aims to make Truecaller easier to use for millions of new users.”, said Alan Mamedi, CEO and co-founder of Truecaller.

With this partnership, the company expects to cover over 100 million new smartphones in several markets over the next two years. Truecaller claims that it has more than 220 million active users in India and expects better growth in the coming months.
