Twitter is introducing a new safety Mode that will automatically block accounts sending harmful or abusive tweets to you. The company is now launching it in beta for a small group of users using Twitter on Android, iOS, and Twitter.com.
Twitter is enabling this feature by default. Twitter is enabling this feature by default. When the feature comes to you, it will start blocking the abusive accounts. Accounts will be temporarily blocked for seven days, but there will be option to appeal. So, it can undo autoblocks made in an error.
“When the feature is turned on in your Settings, our systems will assess the likelihood of a negative engagement by considering both the Tweet’s content and the relationship between the Tweet author and replier,” senior product manager Jarrod Doherty wrote in a blog post.
With this feature, Twitter wants to reduce abuse on the platform. The company has already added several features in last few months to reduce abuse and trolling. Some include limiting people who can rely, hiding replies, and showing warning before tweeting a potentially harmful reply.
