Now when most social media platforms are trying to push video content, Pinterest has also joined the league. The company has introduced a video-first feature called “Idea Pins.” The feature aims for creators who can publish different kinds of videos.

Pinterest claims that Idea Pins evolved out of Story Pins that were launched in beta back in September 2020. Idea Pins is something similar to what you may have already seen on TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and elsewhere. Videos on Story Pins can be up to 60 seconds and will be available on iOS, Android, and the web.

Idea Pins will have options to edit, add VoiceOver, and add stickers. Creators can also tao other creators with an @username. In the beginning, there will be over 100 stickers. Pinterest is also working with the royalty-free music database Epidemic Sound to bing free tracks to use in Idea Pins.

Pinterest claims that test results were encouraging. The company found that Idea Pins got more engagement than standard pins. The number of Idea Pins has also grown by 4 times since January and they gad 9 times% more average comment rate than standard pins.

Pinterest is also expanding the Analytics feature to include new Followers and Profile Visits metric. This will give creators an idea of how their Idea Pins are performing.

Pinterest has already started working on making Idea Pins more shoppable. It is wrong on adding product tagging.

Starting today. Pinterest users in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will see Idea Pins from creators they follow. The company boasts 475 million users. This number will surely help Pinterest in making Idea Pins popular and boost business.
