Evernote is following the path of Microsoft, Twitter and Apple by launching two factor authentication for login. Once enable, this system sends a verification code on mobile each time you login in your Evernote account. User will only get access if they enter correct verification code.
Initially this feature will be available to premium and business users. Once Evernote feels that it is comfortable to support wide audience, this feature will be available to all users.
Once user opt for the feature, it well send six-digit verification code to registered mobile via text message when try to login on Evernote web or mobile app. User will have to enter correct verification code to login in account.
After enabling this feature, few Evernote’s partner apps and integration may not work. To solve this, users will need to create app specific password, available via Evernote’s security question.
Evernote has also launched two additional features: Authorized Applications and Access History. Once you authorized an app, it will rarely ask your password. If you password has been stolen, this could prevent an unauthorized person to access your account. From access history, you can see your account history. You can see when your accessed Evernote from where.
This feature is launched to make Evernote more secure. It was hacked in March that affects 50 million users.
