Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion (RIM) confirmed that company is going to release an update to the BlackBerry OS 10 for the PlayBook tablet PC. Company also confirmed the new upgraded OS for the smartphones.

PlayBook OS 10

The new BlackBerry OS 10 is based on the same QNX platform as the current Playbook OS. According to a note on TechRadar, Rob Orr, RIM’s VP of product management told, “We’ve said publicly a number of times that our first BB10 handset will be available towards the end of 2012, and that’s still firmly the case.”

“It’s actually quite different to our smartphone users, who are a little bit tentative to take software updates,” added Orr.

“But as we move into this new world of mobile computing, frequent updates and auto updates bring in new features and new functions – and that’s the way forward. It’s been really positive to see.”

However, don’t get too excited to get the update of this new updates OS. Because PlayBook will get the update only after the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone which is expected to hit the market by the end of the year. So PlayBook tablets to get the updated no sooner than next year.
